Candy from Strangers by Mark Coggins

Candy from Strangers by Mark Coggins

Book Description

Every little girl knows you can't take candy from strangers. It's the big girls who have a problem with the rule. Big girls with webcams and screen names and Amazon wishlists. Big girls like Caroline Stockwell and her best friend Monica. The young women have a racy website and a devoted--if sometimes creepy--fan base. Then Caroline goes missing, and jazz bass-playing PI August Riordan is engaged to find her--by her lovely and unhappily married mother, Ellen.

Riordan doesn't know the first thing about camgirls, the Internet, or social networking sites. But he's been an investigator long enough to know that lustful longing doesn't always do a body good. And it's clear there are plenty of suspects to pick from: a photography instructor who took nude photographs of Caroline, a shrink with a barcode comb-over and a history of sexual harassment, and a self-made guru who promotes the pleasures of the Tantra (for as long as he can last...).

Riordan finds his way to the truth like only he can in this seamy, surprising third novel from Mark Coggins. With a little help from his ex-fiancee, his cross-dressing sidekick Chris, and a lovely, vindictive French woman, Riordan is in for one hell of a ride. And he won't stop until the San Francisco Bay Area is unseamed from nave to chops, guts from its dark underbelly spilling out for all to see.
